Right to object
The right to object allows a data subject to object, on grounds relating to their particular situation, to processing of their personal data based on legitimate interests or the performance of a task in the public interest. The controller must cease processing unless it can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override the data subject's interests, or for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims. Data subjects have an absolute right to object to processing for direct marketing purposes.
