Data protection officer

Also known as: DPO

A data protection officer (DPO) is a designated individual appointed by a controller or processor to advise on data protection obligations, monitor compliance with the DPA 2020, act as a point of contact for the OIC, and cooperate with regulatory investigations. Certain controllers and processors are required to appoint a DPO, particularly those processing sensitive personal data at scale or engaging in systematic monitoring of individuals.
